I have received so much info on this board, that I wanted to chime in and say that the 341 meeting was a piece of cake for us! Our meeting was scheduled in the 9:30am docket, so we arrived around 8:30 so we could see how the other meetings went.
We were all in a long narrow room, with a table at one end (for trustee, attorneys, and filers) and waiting chairs in rest of the room. The trustee was nice, and the paralegal from our attorney's office (they apparently do most of the BKs in our district) sat at one end of his table the whole time (like it was her office or something ).
He asked the same standard questions of everyone (have you read and signed all the documents, do you understand them, do you understand the difference between chapter 7 and 13, do you know what it means to reaffirm a debt, do you own any real estate, has anything changed since you filed, etc.)
He also asked some people when they received their tax refunds, and what they spent them on.
That was pretty much it! It only took a few minutes for each person.
So, for anyone wondering what their 341 will be like, I'd say that as long as you were honest when filling out your paperwork, you probably don't have anything to worry about.
I know that there are some people who have bad experiences, but I think those are the exceptions, not the rule. (And I am NOT saying that anyone who had a bad experience wasn't honest or that it was their fault, I am just saying that in general most of us will have an easy meeting.) I just wanted to give a bit of encouragement to anyone who may be worrying about their meeting (like I was).
