Waiting for our 341 meeting.... a big ball of nerves

Our paper work has been filed, we are waiting to get our notice for our 341 meeting. I am a big ball a nerves, cause thats just me, the fear of the unknown makes me nervous. Any suggestions to help my husband and I to be better prepared for this. We are in the Eastern District of TN

wgibson, suggest you do a forum search using "341" as the search term. There are literally hundreds of great posts and in-depth replies on how to prep for your 341 already here for the reading.

Bottom line is that everyone is initially nervous about their 341 meeting. The best part is that 99.9% of the time, the meeting takes about five minutes answering some very routine answers asked by your trustee and then it's over.

Only if you filed fraudulently or did some risky things right before filing (like buying luxuries on your credit cards), should you be consumed with worry about this meeting.

Did you file your bankruptcy with a lawyer or on your own?
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Stay calm and relax. Its not an inquest. If you are honest in the filings and your answers there is nothing to be anxious about. They do not judge you. You will see that all will be well. Take care.

wgibson: My suggestion is you go outside jog for a few miles then come home and collapse in your chair or couch and relax. Or just do what I do and skip the jogging.

We filed with a lawyer. The only thing that has me really nervous is that we had already got our tax return back, and spent most of it. If the return wasn't so big (7,000) then i probably won't have been so bad. I do however have rec. for everything that we had bought including paying our attorney. We did make a pretty big purchase (almost 1,000.00) we bought a head stone for my father in law who passed away in October. We did buy a Wii for my kids. After my husband being laid off and us loosing over 20,000.00 in income last year alone, i felt like they deserved it!!!! Then we bought normal stuff too like shoes, clothes, socks, underwear, paid our land taxes, did some car repairs and got tires........... My attorney said that we had a pretty straight forward case...(ch.13 we are proposing 12% @ 36 mo. but have been told that there is a possibilty that we will have to go 60mo) we've got over 30,000.00 loss in income in the past 2 years, lost my car and his boat. Have already finished our exit credit counciling..........

We haven't used a cc in over 9 months if not longer.

our 341 meeting is @ 10:30 in the morning!!!!!! I am trying to remain CALM.... I am sure that everything will be fine. From what our Att. says the only thing that he sees that may possible change is that he proposed a 36mo repayment plan, but says that more then likely we will have to go 60mo. We have been making payments since the day after we filled. BUT I did mess up and sent 1.00 more then what our att. proposed. However in creating a budget for us to learn to live off cash, I have actually prepared to pay about 11.00 more then what is in the plan incase the trustee wants more.
Guess we shall see. We are meeting with our attorney this afternoon to make sure everyone is prepared and ready for tomorrow....
