Shooting at 341 courthouse in Vegas

I hope no one on here today has a 341 in Las Vegas today. We had a shooting at the Federal Courthouse where the 341s are held this morning. One federal agent and one security guard were shot. Suspect was killed. The whole downtown, including all the courts are shut down. I'm pretty sure the reports said the lobby was empty. It was around 8 a.m.

I heard the news early, but haven't seen any updates lately.....

Well, at least they stopped him at the security checkpoint. Amazing. From watching the amateur video... it was more like a gun battle than a shooting.

I think there were 20-30 shots fired. Shotgun shells all over the place. Crazy. The security guard died as well, 65 year old. No idea on motive.

But you're right justbroke, good thing he didn't get past the security check point.

This is only the beginning I fear. The stress of this failing economy will fester itself. It is coincidental that as I see and read the fear in most newbies, as was in us, and the stress of all that we went through, I have to admit at one point I was depressed enough to say, 'hell with it all' and take a long walk off our short dock.

I got over this as in my opinion, I got encouragement from some wonderful folks here, some have moved on. So I stay and take my turn as I know the truth. There truly is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Well - our 341 is set for there tomorrow !

I hope all the investigating is done and everything is back to business as usual. I want to go get this overwith !

Update

Well - we had our 341 today.

It was as i expected - really nothing unusual happened.

The fact that we are hub/wife business partners and I run and do everything in the business worked out to my wifes benefit - they are done with her.

Our 341 was continued until Jan 29 (my B-Day) pending "The Chapter 13 Business Review". The trustee is sending out someone to evaluate our business before she allows the tools of the trade exemption. She also stated they want to verify that we are legit. My wife does not have to attend the new 341 date because she is not involved in any way with business operations.

All of the debtors that attended our 341 were in chapter 13's. Everyone was questioned in detail about more than one thing on their petitions. There was not one filer that was just up and out in a short time. I think there was more scrutiny involved in these cases so they took more time to sort it through.

Oh well - on to the next meeting - wish me luck.

P.S. There was no sign whatsoever of the shootings the day before - it was as if nothing happened there.

Actually the 341s are held across the street in the Foley Federal Building... had ours last week...

Yes that was my mistake, I mixed up the names of the courthouses as to which was the old and which was the new between Lloyd George and Foley.

The Foley is the old federal ct house where the 341s are held. I should remember I used to work for his son, who is now a Fed Ct Judge at the new building where the shooting happened.

Anyways, glad no one had to mess with that disaster downtown yesterday.

I just assumed it was the same building i guess - I don't get downtown very much.
