What do you bring to 341?

Do you bring in your check ledger? What's important to bring?

Good question. I'll be considering bringing bank statements and payslips since six months before filing, and a copy of everything I have filed or been asked for. Oh, and ID!

Definitely bring Drivers License or equivalent ID and proof of Social Security.

Three people before me were in trouble because either they or their attorney did not provide the requested information in advance. If your trustee asks for it, and you give it to your attorney to give, bring copies just in case.

I carried tax returns, pay stubs, and some back-up for expense reimbursement checks from my company in case he asked, though he didn't.

For the Eastern District in California, just your Drivers License or equivalent ID and Social Security card. No bank statements, tax returns, etc. as those should have been included in your filing. Seems each district has its own requirement of what you need at your 341? Strange.

I don't think our district actually says they automatically want bank statements. Though our trustee will plausibly ask for them.

Another thing to add: maybe, don't bring your cellphone! Some won't let them in, I've heard, though, ours at the courthouse seem fine with allowing them in, so I guess it varies.

All we needed was two forms of ID that the trustee compared to what he had to verify we were who we said we are I guess. I had all my paperwork with me including how we came up with values for assets, etc but never got to use them!

Mmmm. I've been mildly concerned that we simply don't have a lot of stuff to show. We don't keep a check ledger nor most of our receipts, most of it's just in my head. Of course, the actual past bank statements are available, and the check images are available online, and we can say true and verifiable things to explain why our schedule J is in line with reasonable sanity (medical expenses for actually-diagnosed or quite-apparent conditions, etc.), but it'd be nice to have more independent evidence available just in case. It doesn't help that money has floated around the household by means like cash withdrawal followed by cash deposit elsewhere of the same cash, where the deposit isn't actually net income but it's not obvious how to prove that. But with luck we won't be pressed too hard on such matters! We've been honest in our filings, so it's not like we're actually hiding anything, but it'd be nice if it were easier to prove that we aren't.

My trustee sent me a letter that very clearly listed what to send in advance (and when) and what to bring with me. They called it a "New Debtor's Letter".

Had a meeting on Dec 3, 2009 in CA. Brought Taxes, Drivers License, unemployment stubs. Did not even need a social security card they used the unemployment stub as alternate form of ID because it had my name and social on it. They did give me form to fill out because I was Pro Se it asked a few questions, who helped me with paperwork, how much they charged, and to name the online source where I received my documents. Conversation lasted less then a minute.

I brought my drivers license, social security card, and a binder that contained bank statements, tax returns, and paystubs. The binder was in my briefcase, which I conspicuously brought into the room. I dressed in such a manner that some could have mistaken me for an attorney.

Well. My stupid beagle ate my briefcase. So much for that idea.
