Hi, I am currently attending GW for my master's degree. I have been going for a little over a year now. I have private student loan debts for this that I know cannot be discharged... however, I am currently attending summer session.
I have not paid the tuition bill yet because I couldn't come up with the money. I tried to get a student loan last month but of course nobody is really lending lately and my credit isn't so great with all the debt I have. I tried to get a school certified loan but there were all these forms and questionaires that GW was gonna make me fill out and it was just too annoying. I really didn't want yet another loan anyways.
So, I called GW and asked them about the bill. I get tuition reimbursement from my employer but I didn't know if it was possible to hold off paying the bill until the semester was over and I got my grade. Then I could get my employer to cut me a check and everybody's happy. The lady actually said this would be do-able I'd just have to pay some small late fees on the balance as summer session is only 10 weeks long.
So, being that I decided to file bankruptcy this week... I'm a little confused as to what happens with my degree. I still have 5 classes left.
1. If I plan to pay the tuition off with my tuition reimbursement, do I have to list it as a debt in my bankruptcy?
2. If the debt is listed in my bankruptcy and it gets discharged...will the school let me finish my degree?
3. If I have no means to pay for future classes... and I can't use credit cards or get a loan till I get reimbursed from my company... how do I finish?
4. I have like 40k in private student loan debt with Chase as well as credit card debt. My student loans are currently in defferment with them until like 10/2010 or something. When my credit card debt gets discharged with them will they get pissed off at me and make my student loans due or do something nasty with them?
