Living Without A/C This Summer

How are you doing now? We're having a record breaking summer here. Will probably beat our record of the most 100 degree temps in a summer - 50. We're at day 30 now and there's no end in sight. The lows are barely getting down to 80 at night. Boy am I glad I didn't try to put a garden in THIS year. I did take a few measures to try and help with the electric bill. I'm blocking my western and southern windows during the day. Not letting the kids go outside between 11-6 to keep the doors from swinging. Hopefully next month's bill will be better than this last one!

with the entire country in such a heat wave..( i believe the news reported over 1 MILLION square miles of the country) in some type of heat alert...one is best off using the A/C then dying...one would think! because this type of heat kills a body.

Our entire society, buildings, etc., is simply not "built" for this sort of extreme weather. Where I live one of the forecasts calls for the heat to "break" and "only" be in the 90's Mon-Wed, and then back into the 100's. A/C didn't even stop AT NIGHT not for a minute....(Ironically, power co just LOWERED my budget payment to "only" $92/month!)

it's a bit ironic, here in florida it's like a pleasant 93 degrees...LOL!!! which is a bit warm for our area of the state, but nothing like what they are experiencing up north. wow...108 in newark nj!!! we lived there for well over 30 years and never ever did it get that hot...ever!
