I opened the accout with the minimum $1 until my bank account was set up for withdrawals and deposits. That only took a day or so. Then I transferred $200 initially. I transfer money from our checking account to Emigrant Direct regularly. Once a situation came up and I needed to use some of the money I have in Emigrant and I transferred it back to my local bank where we have our checking account, and it took 2 or 3 business days for it to be available in my account. I have several friends and co-workers who use Emigrant and have for years, a couple of them with very substantial savings accounts.
