I haven't seen a post like this and thought it may be helpful to others.
I will post updates on the items that I've disputed that were being investigated by the CRA(s) and the results when they come in. Anyone else who would like to add to the thread to help others, that would be great!
Reminder: When a CRA is done their investigation and there is a change in the status/account, etc. - they are obligated (under the FCRA I believe) to send notice to the other CRA's so they all reflect the correct information.
On Aug. 14th, 2006 - I disputed several items w/ Experian (online). Of those items, I received an e-mail (on August 21st, 2006) of 4 accts I disputed that have been either changed/updated, etc.
GMAC - Disputed because they showed status as 30 days late as of Oct. 2005 (when we filed BK). OUTCOME: Experian is now reporting Discharged through Bankruptcy Chapter 7/Current, was past due 30 days.
National Professional Services: Disputed because they showed status as 'Paid in settlement/Collection Acct'. OUTCOME: Experian deleted from my report.
CBCS: Disputed because this was incl. in BK but they mention nothing of the BK, showing Recent Bal. $568 as of 6/06 and Status: Collection Acct, $568 past due as of June 2006. OUTCOME: Experian says it will remain. So now I will have to find out how to dispute this. I have in the meantime sent CBCS a certified letter as well.
THD/CBUSA (which is Home Depot): Disputed because status showed nothing of the BK. It stated, "Open/Past Due 30 days. $426 past due as of Oct. 2005". Also showed Recent Balance of $8594 as of 10/05. OUTCOME: Experian deleted this off my credit report!
