    Is Discover BK friendly?

We've been getting offers in the mail since we were discharged about a month ago, but most are those $300 limit/$252 Fee cards. With these offers, you can tell they sent you the offer because of your BK and that they already know about it. All of these offers have hit the garbage can.

Yesterday we got an "invitation" to apply from Discover. It doesn't have any of the standard pre-approved jargon nor does it mention anything about bad credit. It does, however, in the fine print say that if we apply and are not approved for this offer with a minimum of $5 limit, we agree to allow them to provide our application information to their Discover Network credit cards offered by their lending partners, with a minimum of $500 limit.

Since it doesn't say anything about being pre-screened or pre-approved - do you think it was just sent out to many people without any pre-qualification, or do you think it's a "you've been discharged" kind of offer.

Anther interesting thing about the invitation is that it came to our new address directly, it wasn't forwarded from the old address, so obviously we got on the mailing list somehow.

    It's 0% interest until 5/07, then goes to 11.99%.

Just wondering if we should even bother to apply just to get turned down.

Anyone else get a Discover offer shortly after discharge?

    TIA

It's worth applying I would think. I got approved for cards I never thought I would.

I thought so too, but don't want to make the credit report any worse than it already is -- if that is even possible!

But our house is still in foreclosure, and will be till next spring, as a result of the BK -- so I bet we won't be approved.

Honestly, it's worth dropping a few points in my opinion. I aim for the big picture 1-2 years down the road. Think of the credit you could build with the card if you do get it.

I'd like to know how it goes for you because I also received an invitation and I think I'm going to go ahead and apply.

My experience is NO they are not BK friendly, as is NOT Citi or Chase. I got one of those Platinum card applications, etc. I went ahead cause I thought worth a shot. They denied. So I would probably say unless your after BK score is high etc, the chances of approval are slim.

They are not bk friendly, however there is a poster on this site who was able to reopen an old pre-bk card account with them that been paid in full and in good standing.
