Buyer beware..
This company may not be the solution you're looking for and just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else was scratching their heads w/ questions.
I had several screens pulled up on my notebook last night- trying to compare the different products people had to offer for a 3 in 1 report w/ scores and monitoring.
Identity Guard seemed to have what I was looking for. They're offering 3 months of a 3 in 1 report w/ all 3 scores and credit monitoring for $24.99 and then $12.99/mo thereafter.
I tried to find out if I could dispute online through them w/ all the inaccuracies I knew there would be. Looking back it seems to be a pretty stupid question (have to go to the CRA directly for that, now I know) but I wasn't too sure last night.
The 3 months I assumed (that's where I went wrong) you would be able to view an updated report for each of those months. NOPE. All the 3 in 1 (and score) does for you is give you each report once for those 3 months but unlimited access online to view them. The only thing it did offer was the monitoring which would e-mail you w/in a few days of any changes made to your reports.
This may be a good solution for some but for others (like myself) - it was a total waste of money that I cannot get refunded. I basically spent $50 last night to view the same report for the next 3 months. What good does that do me??? I'll get the monitoring but really - I would have much rather known all of this ahead of time and NOT spent the money on this company. I would have paid the little extra to go w/ each bureau so I could have the convenience of an updated report every month w/ updated scores and monitoring.
So, long story short (as it never is with me)...
Identity Theft does NOT:
Give you updated monthly reports, only a one time 3 in 1 that you get to view unlimited for the next 3 months (big deal, IMO)
- Same deal w/ scores - it's a one time thing for the whole 3 months
Identity Theft DOES:
Have daily monitoring, which is pretty much what you're paying for (again, IMO)
Provide a quarterly report that shows all the changes made to your report from the first one you received from them. This I actually do think is a great idea but my problem is - I have no time to wait 3 months for something like this - it's not worth the money, I can do that on my own.
The lady I spoke with did say she'd refund my money if I went to a local Cosco store and purchased the monthly one through them (it's Identity Guard's product sold only through Cosco I guess).
I really think they did a poor job advertising their product and I'm wondering if I should call my back to dispute the charges? I know I did receive my report but the fact it really does nothing for me (other than I got to see what my scores were) kind of ticks me off.
Alright, I'll get off my soap box.
