I think I read that NY has nixed credit card companies from having a default interest rate (although, all that means is that the companies will be headquartered somewhere else where they can.)

Yeah. I think its best to just not carry a balance at all, if possible. Even a 'low' rate of 9.9, or a more average rate of 15% or even 19.9. Its all debt just the same, if you don't pay your statements in full.

To revive those credit scores, you do need to carry over a tiny bit. If you've got $500 credit, keep your charges under $100 (20%) and carry over $10-20. It stinks to pay any interest (however, miniscule), but it's better than other cards charging you fees out of BK.

Well, as far as I'm concerned for all practical purposes, my credit is already rebuilt. I have $7,500 worth of credit card limits, all my credit reports are reporting correctly, I don't need to buy a car, and will probably never afford to be able to buy a house. So I'm content with where I am now and paying balances in full.

Now that's one part of what I call a successful bankruptcy. (The other part being good savings and retirement planning.)

And trying to ward off future medical bills. I've been denied for health coverage from every insurance company I apply because I lost weight recently.

You've got to be kidding!! Purposely losing weight (dieting) or unexplained (but probably due to stress of BK)?

That is so unfair! BTW, congrats on your weight loss.
