I am staying in a hotel long term with my sick husband. I am using a credit card on the room. I pay it off every month. My question: are temporary authorizations treated the same as an actual charge? My hospital subsidized rate is $40 per night but hotel authorizes $140 per night until confirmation from hospital. $3500 credit line last month $1800 charged. Trying to get my fico score higher and don't want to utilize all my credit. Chapter 7 8/13/10 discharged 11/13/10.

A temporary authorization (or "hold") affects only the available credit line. It does not affect the balance and the creditor may not report the authorizations as if they are charges.Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
