Refi a car to get reported on credit report?

We bought a car right before BK, needed one, beaters life was up. This had to go in my wife's name and I was cosigner. I filed BK7, discharged Oct 2012, wife did not file, just me.

Car was not reaffirmed so we are paying this payment and it's not helping me rebuild my credit. Does not show as making payments on my CR. Credit dept at bank said they will not report to the agencys.

We were thinking about doing a refi at local credit union. Wife has good credit so would be the same, she gets it in her name and I cosign just to get it reported.

Paying on time for all these months and it's not reflecting on my credit. I did get 1 secured and 1 unsecured cc in my name that I pay off and on time but feel I want help from the car payment.

Does this seem like something that will help me rebuild.

I'd say it totally depends on the conditions (i.e. interest rate and LTV-ratio) of the loan you have right now. If you aren't upside down and you can get the same (or better) interest-rate as you currently have, it might be worth it. If you are several grand under water and your APR would go up due to the recent BK, I wouldn't recommend it.
