    BK Date?

When banks, finance managers, etc. ask you "how long ago was your bankruptcy? are they referring to the file date or the discharge date? If it matters at all, when applying for credit etc what date do they look at? Is it the file date, or the discharge date that will have an influence if they approve credit? There is a 5-1/2 month between my file date and discharge date.

We were told that it goes by your discharge date.
For example: we filed in September 29th 2005 and was discharged on January 6th 2006. So our BK date would be January 2006. When asked it would be 5 months since our BK. Just because you file ....doesn't always means you are discharged and complete.

Also on the "Official Discharge Papers" aka "Discharge of Debtor" that loan officers and banks want to see, has the date of January 6th 2006.....nowhere on it does it show my file date , so I would say the discharge date is the date to go by, it is the only date "on paper"...KWIM?

Hope this helps.......If I am wrong I'm sure someone will chime in.
