    Costco membership only

Hi. Wasn't sure where to ask this. Before Costco teamed up with Amex, they provided their own credit which used the membership card for payment. This was one of the accounts discharged in my bk. I let my membership lapse. Now Costco is inviting me to rejoin. I only want membership and not credit. I would pay with my debit card and/or cash. But would there be any problem with re-associating myself with them now --- even if just for membership? Will they even approve me? I'm sure their marketing offer to rejoin was a mass offer and they did not investigate my past membership before sending this to me. Thanks.

I don't think you will have ANY problem to rejoin if you are only seeking membership.

Should be no issue at all

If you only want membership and no credit I don't see how that would be a problem.

Well that seems unanimous, at least for now. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

I also will say that it should not be a problem with the membership.

I had a Sam's Club card up until 2004, when I let it lapse. I never knew there was a credit line attached to it, until after we filed in 2007, a Rajnesh Singh--or similar name--wanted to have themselves added to our case to be kept apprised of developments. After 'Hub made a couple of phone calls and talked to the people, and they found the card was long lapsed and the credit line never used, they removed themselves from our case.

Does he ever state what his standing is that allows him to be added? Some stranger just pops up out of nowhere with no apparent ties to your creditors and asks to be included?

That seems to be the case. There are several stories on here about that happening. If 'Hub asked him what connection he had to our case, I don't recall an answer...

I don't see why a Sam's Club membership would be an issue. Most likely the card was held by some other credit card company. Chase possibly? Meaning that they probably won't give you another credit card, but there's no reason Sam's Club, or Costco would stop taking your money.
