They eventually did the same for me, but they declined me 3x for a secured card! What was sad was I had not BK'd them, didn't even have a card open with them at the time. I had my Addison Avenue secured card for about 10 months before Cap1 would even bat an eye at me. Now I use them exclusively, because "subprime" or not, their rewards program is pretty sweet. 1.5% plus a bonus 50% at the end of the year = 2%, and that is pretty good for me. That's not counting all the bonus cash back for shopping through merchants on their website. For example, Giftbaskets.com is 10% cash back... I always get mine and my fiance's mom gift baskets for Mother's day. That's a pretty nice deal. I get 10% back, and they get a basket filled with wine, coffee and chocolate. Winners all around!

Capital One is actually pretty good, IMO. I do think their bad rep was well deserved in the past, but it seems like they are working to clean that up. The fact is, for those who are trying to rebuild credit Cap1 has been a saving grace with their 3-steps program. Now once you hit that $750 credit limit, though, that is the highest they will go on that card. You will have to reapply for another one, which if you are looking at using credit to rebuild it is worth checking out their rewards card. That is how I did it, and also eventually ended up with a higher limit.

My guess is I would have been approved, they just wanted to know how much of a limit to start me out with. I'll never know for sure though.Filed Chapter 7: March 19, 2012

My fiance has a Venture card. Bear in mind he has never paid a dime of interest in his life, and has excellent credit. He has used that card faithfully since he received it, and has close to 16,000 miles saved up, which is I believe $160 off on a ticket. For those with less than stellar (like myself) I think the Cash Rewards card is an equally viable option. I believe I got the Cash Rewards a year post BK, but it wouldn't surprise me if some are able to get it sooner.Filed No Asset Chp 7 BK: January 2010
