It might do a soft pull for the "pre-approval", but if you accept the offer and complete the application, it does the hard pull. Just my thought.

No, its not supposed to. We have a HUGE thread about this on the other forum... nobody has ever reported getting a hard from it.

I was just wondering because the behavior I described appears to be how CapitalOne does their offers. I was just wondering how Tobee could get a "hard inquiry" alert... but maybe it was actually a soft? Who knows! Stranger things have certainly happened.

          it did.

i really don't care that much. but i just thought i should mention it because i got notified by credit karma of the hard hit.

jb, no it said you had a HARD inquiry. so, i took that for a hard hit as opposed to a "soft" one? they sent me an email (lol, one i got jb ). just a notification stating my credit has had a hard inquiry?

And you didn't fill out anything that looked like a credit application? I think the only thing it asks for when you do it is like to confirm your birthday and the last 4 digits of your social. Sorry to hear you got a hard though.... I've never heard of anyone getting a hard for doing that.

amy, that seems to be the story of our lives! it the bell curve goes that way, i always somehow find it goes the exact opposite for me

i had to do my address, if i remember correctly, phone number and the last 4 digits of my ss and i can't remember what else. but apparently, it was credit karma who notified me of the hard inquiry.

Heh, yea tobee that happens to me sometimes too.

Sometimes I get a credit alert when it tells me that I have a new credit application... which isn't necessarily a hard. But I guess its a moot point... you shoulda took it since you might have gotten a hard for it! Was a decent limit for a Comenity card.

This has finally worked for me. I was at Brylane Home and did the shopping cart trick Pre approval screen popped up. Only a $250 limit but I will take it.

                          lol!!! never.

funny, i pulled all three reports each were about 30 pages, not one late payment on anything in 40 years except our mortgage. i paid our cc's up until the last minutes so they couldn't report past due. cool, no judgement, liens ....the bk looks out of place.

all three of them listed at least 5 pages of "good" credit and one paragraph about the bk information. also a listed accounts IIB, but said they would be dropping off in 14, 15, and 16...???? i thought they would stay on until the bk dropped?

No, the accounts are independant of the public record. They will fall off naturally based on the dates on the individual trade lines.

really, what i found cool, was really the only out of place item was the bk. other than that , we look great LOL!!! even the ones IIB were all paid as agreed. OH! a voluntary surrender on one of our cars. (we kept the paid off one and turned the other one in). the credit union at the time said that was a first for them. but we had had a great relationship for over 30 years never late. they were really great about it, but have to report it as it was.

they say there is no difference between a voluntary surrender or a re po...well, then why do that have separate categories then. like you giving it back is "nicer" than them having to come get it forcefully. i would like that counts for a cent LOL!

Was the voluntary surrender a car that was included in your bankruptcy - like did you do a ride through? If so, then it won't show up on your report at all ... should just be the original trade line that says included in bankruptcy.
