    I want results NOW!!

I filed Bk7 and was discharged about a month ago. Tried to clean up my credit reports making sure they are reporting me iib with zero balances.
Applied for a Capital One's credit card, and got one for 500 bucks. Received another card through NFCU for a thousand.

My credit score has not budged, and the only alerts I'm getting are the inquiries. Okay, I know I have to be patience for awhile,
but how long will it take before seeing any results?!?!

It's like my scores are in limbo! lol

    Thanks!

Sounds like you're in a hurry to get back in debt. Give it 2 years.

lol No, I just want a good score to apply for a decent card in 2 years or so. These two cards are enough for me for now.

You were just discharged so you're going to have to be a little patient. It will take a little time to start to see the recovery. Wait about 6 months and check your scores again and as long as you take care of your current credit you will see improvement.

In the meantime check out this post

You need time for your case to close (officially closed) as well as age! After 2 years, you "could" be in the low 700s if a.) you have low utilization on your existing (newly established) credit, b.) you didn't have extremely bad credit right before filing, and c.) you don't have any new "lates" (30+) since you filed/discharged.

Credit scoring is really about 2 things; time and payment history. Time heals all wounds... lack of payments destroys everything. Please relax!

X2-in the meantime relish in how good it feels to pay CASH for things. I know I do-I used to get a sick feeling when I would swipe a credit card.

You need a few months of payment history to see anything budge on your credit report. Give it about 6 months then maybe you'll see something small.

Also, any inquiries you are aquiring in a short period of time will bring your score down as well. There are a lot of factors that go into a credit score and not just the existence of a credit card. Things like the average age of your accounts, what scoring "bucket" you are in, how many revolving accounts you have, the number of major credit cards you have, payment history, what house Venus is in... patience.

Sounds like you're off to a good start and the Navy CC you got will be an excellent method for growth. They are very generous with credit lines. I just got my visa signature cash rewards limit to 50k and I started at 8k about 2 years ago.

                Good luck!

Amy26, did NFCU auto increase you or did you have to request a CL increase?

Nicar, take advice from everyone above. Give it some time. It took me about a six months to a year before I really started to notice a big difference. A large part of that was due to the help from everyone on this board.

I initiated the limit increases. Most creditors do not give auto increases anymore ... Some do but it is rare. I have heard of navy doing auto increases but it was only by a couple of people.

I don't know, I just got a $500 increase on a credit card that I haven't even gotten the first statement for yet so everyone's case is different.

Then consider yourself one of the lucky few. I didn't say nobody ever gets auto CLI. :P Grats.
