I defaulted on a Barclays Bank account (Farm Bureau Bank) that was discharged in Chapter 7 BK. I now have a regular Barclays Bank CC. When I go online or call on the phone, I have both accounts as options. Is there any reason for the bank to keep that account alive? Maybe they are hoping that I will slip up and accidentally pay that old account?

i do also. i have a virgin american (that's all i fly) card which is held by barclays and every time i go on line i see the old account i had with another company which was also a barclay card and it's right there to access. i have a line now of 3500 @ 15.00% presently. i went into the other account and it shows no payment due or anything but an outstanding balance of 4k. oh well, if they don't care either to i! LOL!!
this is my MAIN card. i charge bill purchases but run home and pay them off! so they have upped and upped my line with no problem. i wouldn't worry about the other account. i guess they are just trying to tell you how BK friendly they are, but at the same time reminding you that that wrote off whatever amount for you.8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9

I wouldn't worry too much about it either... I have student loans with Chase and I also IIBd 3 credit cards with them. Whenever I log into my account it still shows all three of the Chase credit cards with their limits but it shows 0 dollars available. I know they are IIB and I know they are closed ... I think the companies are just lazy to update their system ... My paypal account also still shows my mastercard which I have tried to get them to remove but they talk to me like I'm nuts. I wish they would get rid of that one from my account cause whenever I use paypal it shows up as my default payment account even though it was IIB and closed.BK Ch 7 Discharged 09/2009 | Anything I say can and should be used as friendly advice and sharing of experiences with an unbiased viewpoint.

My online banking for Chase and Bank of America both show old accounts that were closed long before I ever considered bankruptcy. The accounts were always in good standing and were closed because I didn't want to pay the annual fee any more or the bank discontinued a certain kind of account and replaced it with another. I don't know why they don't get rid of them, but I know it is nothing to worry about.LadyInTheRed is in the black!
