Apply FloridaGail - I bet you will be accepted. I gained a net 12 points on my scores due to the higher utilization.

I did use the 6 months interest free and carried a balance. My score went up a few more points by doing that, Cory. Hubs and I finally broke the 700 barrier recently! Yay!!

Cory, what Barclays card did you receive and how did you apply? Over the phone or online?
      Was it the rewards card:
      BK7 - Discharged May 2011

I've read nothing but bad reviews about that card. I too received the pre-approved offer in the mail. I want to try to re-establish credit but not if it means getting a fly-by-night card. Do you think it's just "squeaky wheels" talking or does anyone here have a truly bad time with this company?

WOW, I accepted the offer yesterday at 11am , received the card at 930am fed express this morning, that was fast. My income is 39k a year on my own, they only approved me for 1300. No annual fee. I plan to use it to buy gas and not pay any interest. I will see if it helps my score next month. I want to get rid of Cap One eventually as they will not waive the AF.

Congrats! Did you pay for rush service? Mine took 5 days but I have it now. Gas and groceries for the points. I was going to get rid of my Cap1 but they upgraded my card to a rewards with no annual fee so I will keep it.

Yes I did, I also checked score TU went down 3 points for the inquiry, ( it is my only inquiry now) I really hate the score monitoring but I plan to try to buy in 2013, when BOA finally forclose on the house.(house is only in my hubby name).

For the record, I know people usually just post on positive news (when they are approved). My app was denied. I am 2.5 years post discharge. My TU score is around 690 (CK FAKO). My utilization is around 20% (from last reports to the CRAs). I have 3 CCs with an overall CL over $3k. They may have denied me possibly because I already have a high enough CL overall? I would gladly close a couple of the other cards.. for the main reason to rid of my annual fee cards. I'm trying to replace those cards.

Also, I am on the DNC list so I did not receive a pre-approval letter. I applied online.

                      Good luck!

I doubt it is because your overall CL is over $3k - may be the opposite. When I applied I had 4 cards with a total CL of $11,500 - utilization less than 10%. Do you have any other credit lines showing? I also had an auto loan and education loan.

I do have an auto loan (about $10k) which actually boosted my score about 10 points a few months ago. I did not include them in my BK. They will be sending a letter saying the reasons why which I have not received yet.
