My credit scores got stuck between 665 and 690 for the past 6 months and it just doesn't get above 700. I wonder if anyone got their scores to pass the 700 mark within 2 yrs after being discharged.

I think it is difficult to get above 700 WITHIN 2 years after filing. Once you pass that timeline, you get an additional boost.Filed CH7 9/24/2010, 341 on 10/28/2010, Disch.&Closed: 1/6/2011. FICO EX: 9/2: 672.

Yep, that's what I was thinking IBroke. Hey Florida how soon after filling did you apply for credit? Did you finance anything yet or only have CCs?Pre filling credit score: Trans 554, Expe 555, Equi 511
5 days after discharge Trans 598, Expe 569, Equi 598
4 mo after discharge Trans 691, Expe 678, Equi 703

We applied for a cap one card shortly after discharge and both spouse and I were approved (me 1,200 and him 1,000 - don't know why the difference). We also financed an inexpensive car in 2010, but the interest rate was too high (11%) so we paid it off right away. We haven't done anything with credit since.

Mine is at 690, 707, 715. According to IdentityGuard. My hubby did put me on as authorized user on his Am Ex. and Chase Freedom cards. I do have to get preapproved ( from hubby) if i am going to charge anything. whoa is me.....LOL Probably a good thing.filed: 8/10 ...341:10/8/10 ... Discharged & Close: 12/9/10

I checked my score in January and I was at 725. I am not sure how I did it because I have not taken out any additional credit besides my student loans. I also have one additional loan that I took out to rebuild my credit, and before i took it out they pulled my scores up for me. I was shocked to say the least.Chapter 7 filed on 4/23/2010

One of the biggest things that will keep you from getting over 700 is utilization! Of course, paying on time is the biggest factor in your score, but don't overlook utilization. You should not have more than 30% utilization on ANY revolving credit account on the reporting date (typically when your account statements run for that credit account). You should not have more than 2 installment accounts (this includes automobiles!). New accounts hurt you a little. Applying for credit hurts you a little.
So, if you have 1 car payment (and it is "aged" some -- not new), under 30% utilization, no lates in 2 years, no new accounts within past 12 months, no collections at all on your report, and less than 3-4 inquiries, you should be in the low 700s. (Of course, no one can really figure out FICO, but those are the big things).Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)

justbroke is correct! My wife just peaked 700 8 months from discharge, I am in the 650 range on all 3. I am rebuilding with secure and non secure CC and cleaning up my report and trying to get some baddies deleted. My wife is an AU on her parents Amex and a few other cards that have INSANE credit limits, over 100g and they almost never carry a balance maybe 1-2%. This has helped her greatly but I am sure her score was really high before the BK...mine was in the tank. I bumped a few hards off of my report this month so I am at 0 hard pulls and I hope that will increase my score next month. Good luck on your quest but it can be done

I'm just getting started, second consultation is tomorrow. My score is currently 764. From what I've heard it will most likely drop 100 points, is this correct? I'm hearing that it takes 2 years to build it back up? I'm hoping I can take out another credit card right away to start the process of rebuilding quickly, but any other pointers? Aside from my student loans which I owe $15000 on and my car loan which are both paid current, I don't have anything else. I'm current on all my bills, just know that I can't continue with the cc debt without filing. At the first consultation the lawyer said to stop paying on my credit cards. He indicated that 3 months of non payment wouldn't really be enough to affect my credit score because by the time the creditors were ready to take any other action I would have filed, is this accurate?
