How long until I should apply for a secured card? (Barclay, Hooters, Capital One)

Just an update here, I was approved for a Capital One Visa(unsecured) 300 limit no annual fee, APR 0% first 6 months, then jumps to 22.9(ouch). Wont carry any type of balance on it.

I think that question was to me. I initially received an offer in the mail, so went ahead and applied online. Before I pulled the trigger to apply, I read over the terms of the 3 cards I saw on their site, as I didnt want a card with an annual fee if I could avoid it.
