My BK has been done for a month or two so and I wanted to work on credit repair as fast as possible; my goal is to be able to get a mortgage as I do not need or want any other credit lines. As a realtor, I know that I can buy a home for less than the rent around my part of the world, so I decided to pay someone to do the job for me.
So far, so good; in less than 2 months, he has got 6 items removed from one report and 8 from another. I note that many folks have said that it is easy to do this work on your own, but I know that for me, it is hard to find time for much of anything aside from my 7 day a week job/family life/chore stuff.
My main reason for spending some money to speed the process is I would like to repair my credit and be able to get a mortgage before my home is foreclosed. This would prevent the "move my wife, 3 cats and all our crap" two times problem. Although I am indeed prepared to do this, it would still suck, especially finding a rental home that would take our animals combined with paying more in rent than it would cost me to have a mortgage... For those thinking about paying someone for help with this, do what I did and interview more than one company, see if they promise too much, etc... And be prepared for it to take time, whether you do it yourself or not.
