Capital One Platinum MasterCard Pre-Approved Offer

I received a Capital One Platinum Mastercard pre-approved offer with no annual fee. It say a credit line up to $3000. How will I know what my credit line will be? What's the point of writing pre-approved if you don't know what the pre-approved line of credit it? Maybe I'm missing something.

    Thanks in advance.

Pre-approved means nothing. If you want the card ten apply and then if you get approved they'll tell you how much you get.

This isn't the 1990s here, or the early 2000s. Times change and it is just not very common anymore for banks to tell you upfront what your line of credit will be. They have to do a hard pull on your credit report and pull your credit history to know what exactly they can extend you. Based on the little information they did have you qualified for up to $3000, so at least you know it will be probably be between $300-$3000. Wide gap, obviously, but it is what it is.

And the point is to get you interest enough to call and inquire or apply. Simple as that.

I got the same offer, was approved for $2K about 6 months ago. Just today I got another "pre-approved" offer from Capitol One for a credit line up to $1,500 and a $75 annual fee! No thanks, I'll just stick with the $2,000 CL and no annual fee.
