i'm just a bit confused. is this car or homeowners insurance?? i just understand the letter from the credit co.?

many states do consider your credit score when issuing your insurance rates. some states depending can do either. i know in our state we have some insurance companies that do consider ones credit score and others don't.

We did both but this one was with the auto insurance. i understand they use credit checks for score. But trying to figure out why we have non closed accounts? I assume non closed accounts are different then open accounts? We filed bk on everything and have not opened any new credit.

Have you pulled your credit reports to see how they are reporting? That would be the first thing to check, but due to the fact it was a negative factor you will be able to order a free report from whoever the insurance company received it from. You may want to go to myfico.com and check your scores and reporting but this does cost you money to do.

we ran into the same situation and then changed agencies...we actually ended up going via AAA who found company which is a major one, that didn't consider credit scores. we did the same with our home owners.

i asked why??? why because someone filed bk because of job loss and illness should MY auto rates go up. i have never had a ticket or an accident, (knock on wood X"s a mil), but what one agent said to me is that they find people who don't pay their bills have a higher rate of car accidents and fraud claims. i said okay....what about the fact that you didn't have bank credit you just lost your job, got so ill it cost you your life savings and we NEVER did not pay our bills. for us we actually paid most all of them up until our filing!!

just another unfair terrible thing along with squeezing us to death!

We ordered the free report today and found some info on the site. We read as you said yea people who dont pay their bills will get inot more accidents. OH k. I cause because they are careless in all asspects of their lives. LOL
The non opened accounts sound like no open accounts. Well yea not sure why a bunch of open cc's would be a good credit thing. I always thought the more open credit you had the worse it was. At least is was in my case. To much money on credit.

well the way i look at the way one judges your credit....

              you have TOO much credit
              you have TOO little credit
              your accounts are TOO old
              you just opened the account
you rcredit limits are TOO high
your credit limits are TOO low...and on and on and on

SO yes, we will give you a rate of 35% on your car loan. and we know you deserve to have pay triple for your car insurace. yeah right!

there is just NO rhyme to any of their reasoning!!!! ridiculous isn't it???
