What to do if creditor who lists credit pull as hard won't relent?

NOTE: What I mean by hard credit pull is one in which it counts against your score.

I have just gone through my credit reports and I've noticed quite a few hard credit pulls that should not be there. It seems that the individual needs to contact the creditor to have those pull removed. OK, so I'm in the process of doing that, but especially since some of the creditors were ones that I had defaulted on (and the pulls were done right after filing BK), I have a feeling that I am going to have some ornery creditors who will not want to help. Is there any way I can force them to because of the BK filing? What about going back to the credit reporting agency - is there a regulation that allows me to ultimately force them to do so?

If, in fact, they pulled a hard on you after the date you filed, once you point this out to them - they should gladly delete. That is a violation as it is considered an attempt to collect.

No, they were after default (i.e., me missing a payment), but before the BK filing date.

Well then let me ask how you know it is a hard inquiry? Depending on what your using to review -- it can be confusing. But at any rate - if it is indeed a hard inquiry - did you apply for credit with them? If not - then they should not have done a hard without your permission.

Now, having said that - any existing creditor you have (or have had) IS allowed to do a soft inquiry at any time. Because you said it was after default but before filing date - I tend to want to think they did a soft on you.

I had many (hard?) "inquiries" from CAs. Since I wasn't seeking credit, I wanted to do something about it.

There is one credit-bureau that allows you to dispute inquiries - and once the 30 days are over, guess what they will tell you? "Inquiries can't be deleted. Period."

I find that quite funny. "You can dispute but it won't matter..".
          Filed CH7 9/24/2010, 341 on 10/28/2010, Disch.&Closed: 1/6/2011. FICO EX: 9/2: 672.

          FICO TU: pre-filing: 589, After BK Public Record: 563, 9/2: 706.

The inquiries are listed as having (hard, and reported to others) or not having (soft, and not reported to others) an effect on my score. I couldn't care less about any legitimate creditor doing a soft inquiry.
