Cleanup of CR during BK or after?

    SO,

Im awaiting CH7 discharge and wanted to compare my reports before and after. When I pulled myfico today I see almost everyone reporting zero balances and IIB but two creditors.

Alliant CU is reporting 120 days late and is STILL reporting in 6/11 even though I filed in April. Elan shows 30 days late but they stopped reporting in 3/11 although they are still showing a balance and not IIB.

My question is, should I wait before I start disputing this stuff until AFTER discharge. My concern is that I dont want either of them to file any objections to my BK (and there are some questionable cash advances to casinos right beyond the 90 day mark before I filed), so dont want to bring attention to myself uneccessarilly.

OTOH, I also will be needing to get a car right after discharge and I have a feeling those "still reporting" items are making my scores even worse than they would be normally and from my understanding my scores will likely improve once discharged, but these two items will probably hold me back still.

Dispute now and possibly awaken a sleeping giant, or wait until discharge? Im not sure I am going to have the time to dispute after discharge and wait for them to clear before I need to get a car since I am going to lose the car I have once the discharge is entered.

P S - Is the Alliant CU that is still reporting in June a stay violation worth pursuing? I know they are aware of the BK as they have not sent me any letters or phone calls. Again, dont want to wake a sleeping giant if the chances of any success with the violation is minimal for this type of thing.

    Thanks in advance.

Personally I would wait until after discharge to start the clean up process as there is too much that could happen prior.

Regarding the Alliant CU entry: I have a similar entry from a creditor on my credit reports even now, a year post discharge. I tried to dispute it but was told that even though it's IIB with a 0 balance they can report it for 7 years. I've also recently been told the opposite. The next chance I get I'm going to talk to a credit counciling group through my credit union and see what they say.

Have patience. IMO, about 6 months after discharge is time to start cleaning anything up that requires attention.

Ok thanks. Guess I ll have to just hope those entries dont cost me too much in interest. Actually I was surprised there were just the two reporting incorrectly. Even the Elan entry showing WAS 30 days late isnt so bad if they just change it to IIB as well so it doesnt show a balance due. The Alliant however is reporting every month and the status as of the filing was only 60 days late so at most it should also show that with an IIB and zero balance. But I ll wait til after discharge.

Alliant is the one I am most worried about filing an AP, so I ll just leave it and hope I can get a sort of decent rate on a car with that showing incorrectly and I ll bring my discharge papers with me to show it was included.

I think I agree with the time period AFTER discharge. My attorney told me make decisions today with the immediate future(1 year from today) in mind. Ask yourself, where do you see yourself financially 1 year from now? It should be in a much better place than present day.
