        Got my Hooters toay!

Hello everyone, I haven't been here in awhile. Was discharged 12/05. I have not applied for much credit but so far I am happy with Merrick Bank. In March I got a Merrick Bank MC with CL of $750 and no fees, 22%.

After reading all the talk about the Hooters card I thought why not try. I applied and it is also from Merrick so I was not hopeful. To my surprise, today, one week to the day of applying, I got the card in the mail with $2000 CL and no fees, 22% interest. I won't be using the interest part but I was stunned at the high Cl as I have no idea what my fico's are now. In Jan EX reported it in the high 400's (gasp) really, isn't that awful.

So I am assuming my scores must be up. I have been a really good girl since the BK. Paying reaffirmed house and student loans like clockwork. I will have to pull the scores cause now I am curious.

What is the best place to get the FICO scores?

I was discharged back in Jan 06. Up to this point I have been very hesitant on getting a credit card because I was told that if they are affiliated with one of the cards I discharged I will be responsible for all of that money again. Does anybody know who, if anyone, the Hooters card is affiliated with? I'm trying to avoid Chase, HSBC, and Capitol One. I have noticed a lot of these cards being offered are sponsered by HSBC. Thank you for your help!

It's not true. I applied through citi and we had a citi. All they did was deny me credit. They didn't open it and add the discharged debt.

              Posted earlier in this Thread.

Hooters Card is backed by Merrick Bank and generally pulls from TransUnion.

Same here, I steer away from BOA, chase and capital one. Of course, those are the big boys, so to speak. Anyway, they were so awful that I never want anything to do with them again anyway. Maybe, this Merrick will be a good choice for me, but right now I do not want any credit. My husband would go crazy in a minute, and run the thing out of control. I could not trust him in the house with it. He has become addicted to internet shopping.

I thought I read that some of you were able to check your Hooters application status online after 24-hours. If this is the case, where were you able to check the status? Thanks.

just found out today i was approved for $1000, don't know the terms yet. i applied 5 days ago and called just to check on the status. the first rep put me on hold for a few minutes and got a credit specialist (or something like that) on the line, she said they mailed me a letter (i was thinking - uh, oh), she then went on to say they needed to verify my address and ss#. i rent a box at a ups store and this sometimes causes issues like this (especially with equifax!!). i asked how far along i was in the process, and she said the fact that they need to verify these last 2 things meant i was approved for some kind of limit already. i faxed over a pay stub, called back in 1 hour and that's when they told me i was approved for $1000!

my banko 7 was discharged 2/23/06 and my fako scores are anywhere from 550-660. they pulled transunion only. this *almost* makes up for being denied by cabela's.
                      10 pc wings...........$6.99
                      hunt club shirt........$15.95
the smile on my face when i use my hooters mastercard.......priceless

FPM, can you please move this to the General Talk folder and start a new thread there? You're on an existing thread, and your observation has nothing to do with the original subject - this will "hijack" the thread which will send it in a direction that has nothing to do with the subject here.

Glad you enjoyed the concert, and thanks!

Oh come on! This hooters thread is dying anyways. Its just an extremely high interest rate card that is a stepping stone to rebuild and should not be used to carry a balance. Everyone knows that.

As for the concert, thats a once in a lifetime experience, glad your hooters card allowed you to have it!
