I haven't posted in awhile, but it is good to know that life is still moving on for those of us who have and are going through BK. I applied for the card hmmmm...May 17th or 18th and haven't heard from them. I did call to get a status and they stated that it still is under review. Oh well, I will probably get the dreaded letter soon. The weird thing is that I closed on my house May 8 with a 7.00 interest rate/fha and got turned down for Target credit, they stated I was turned down and should recieve a letter soon. Any advise?

Living one day at a time is the best advise. You are blessed, you just closed on a house with a decent APR. They turned me down for target twice. I was told that you should go to the store and apply. Best of Luck. I have no idea what CC you have but would try Orchard if you don't have any.

FSUGIRL, my BK was closed 1/26/06. I'm not complaining. On yesterday, Orchard sent a letter stating I forgot to enclose my 19.00 processing fee. I will assume they might approve me. I'll just sit back and wait for the offers to come.

You are so right. I am blessed and I will not forget that. Still haven't heard from Hooters yet. What was the time frame in between when you applied for Target again?

That's the same question that I had, brownlayde. Annassa, I see where you applied and was denied, (post from May 2); but then approved . I was denied from hooters and target , but awaiting a response from orchard . I forgot to enclose my 19.00 processing fee. If this doesn't go through, how long should I wait to apply for credit. Any responses are greatly appreciated.

                  me too

I applied last month and was declined. The letter they sent me said i was declined because of my bankruptcy and a deliquent credit history. They checked my transunion report and at that time my score was around 599. So my question is when shpuld i apply again?

Precious-78 - I would wait a few months to get your score up. You dont want to have a lot of inquiries because it does lower your score...I found out that the hard way. I got approved for a Hooter's card(applied online) for $500. I didnt even know there was such a card until I read Creditboards.com and saw where a lot of people were applying for the card; most of them got approved for more than I did. I chalk my lower CL because I already have a Cap One, Orchard Bank. Juniper and Target redcards and I got our car refinanced through the Credit Union so I am not really complaining. As I said what I did learn was dont apply for too much too soon. By the way I applied in my husband's name and got turned down for a card but when I applied we got approved? His scores are lower but he got our son's truck approved from Ford Motor Credit in his name so sometimes these cc companies are screwy in how they determine who gets approved and who doesnt. We are determined NOT to get big CLs because we want to improve our credit but be able to manage it as well. FYI our BK was discharged in August 2005. I was told by lenders that the BK usually doesnt cause the denial but the credit history, according to them, following the BK, usually does. Is that what they are referring to with delinquent credit history? I think my score when I was approved was 650.

I went ahead and closed the Hooters... I've read that it might not be optimal for score purposes but I thought it was right for me... I talked Capital One into raising my limit to $1000 - I'm right at 6 month with that card with perfect history.

Anyhow, I really don't want to put myself into a positioin where I might be tempted to spend more than I should and so 1 card with a decent limit (and in my opinion $1000 is decent) was enough.

Before I closed it, I did ask about a better APR. Mine is 20 something. I was told that they 'are not lowering interest rates at this time'. The way it was said sounded like a blanket answer to anyone who asks.

I have a friend whose husband has recently established credit. (They are a few years younger than me, not that I'm TOO OLD or anything.) She called to tell me he got $3500 on Citicard. She was floored-I think she has her credit issues but never had that kind of limit. I hope they handle it well! Don't want to refer them here down the road...

I was denied for the hooters card 2 month ago. Since then I got a Merrick Bank secured card and now I wonder if they would give me the hooters card ? By the way Merrick mails the secured card fast and reports fast too, all within two week.

I don't really remember when I applied for this the 2nd time, but apparently I was approved after being denied the first time. $900 limit, 0$ annual fee, and 22.95% interest.

If Hooters doesn't work, then I'd get a secured card before I'd pay for those kind of fees.
