That is what an attny told us as well. We owed the IRS for taxes for 2005. Had equity in a vehicle we could tap. Asked the attny about a cash back refi to pay the taxes and he said NO. That would look very fraudulent to the Trustee to take on new debt on the eve of filing BK.

We sold the truck instead. Trustee probably won't be happy with that either but he/she can't balk too much. We paided a Secured Creditor, the loan, and a Priority Creditor, the IRS, with the money.

woot.......got my Hooters card in the mail yesterday. Like most everyone else, $1000 limit and no fees. APR is 28.7%........but I'm not gonna carry a balance over. Just put a tank of gas on it a month, and turn around and pay it off ASAP.

Was talking to a friend of mine over the weekend, and hubby was bragging about his Hooters and how he has more credit now than before we filed. (We didn't have much credit, was mainly medical and misc. collections.) ANYHOW. Turns out they filed last year also, at the beginning of the year and they have not done much to 'rebuild'. They (our friend and his wife) each have a Capital One card and that is it. We told them about Hooters, and some others that I've read about being possibly bankruptcy friendly. So he applied for a Juniper card and got $500 online approval. (We're waiting a few months on that-I hear they are closer to being a prime bank.) He also applied for Hooters, but of course, I don't know the results. He and my hubby are a little competitive, and I just know one of them is going to brag about having bigger Hooters than the other!

Anyone have any idea which credit agency they verify with? Even though I'm in the pre-bk stage, I still need a cc for emergency and/or renting car.

Called my friend, he doesn't know about Hooters yet. He hasn't called to ask. I was so impatient, I wasn't going to wait! Will be going over to his house in a couple of weeks for a birthday party, I'm sure he'll know by then...

Do they give you an answer right away or does it take several days? I just applied and it said 5-7 days ... Is that a bad sign ???

Nope. Everyone gets that response. You can call within 2 days to see if you get approved or not....

                      Approved too!

                      Hey everyone,
Got my Hooters MC today in the mail - $1000 limit. Didn't see anything yet about grace period but still looking over it. So..........Hooters, $500 with HSBC, $500 Kay Jewelers, and my student loans and my rebuilding should go smoothly. I am not applying for anymore credit unless a necessity (1998 car right now).
I opened an ING savings account with $250 and received a bonus $25 for opening. If anyone is interested in opening an account and getting the bonus money I can send you a link.

Just to let everyone they DO check Experian also. Hubby applied they do not just check TransUnion ..... they also check Experian . Which sucks cause I have TransUnion almost perfect, yet Experian isn't budging, and is taking forever to clean up!! Needless to say I doubt he will get it.

                        See :

He just applied for the regular card, and now he has "hooters" TWICE!!! on his inquries..LOL

                        good luck

I got declined for the hooters card.

The declination letter cited a 'recent bankruptcy' filing as the primary reason.

And at that point, I had 3 zer0 balance credit cards, and all credit report errors corrected.

                          Go figure.

                                Filing on my Own,
Looks like you already have 3 new active credit cards..... I'm sure Hooters took this into account along with recent bankruptcy.

                                Anassa,
Your right out of bankruptcy, are you closed yet??? If not that could be a factor in getting declined. Also you may need to do some credit report repairs on your accounts and make sure they have reported correctly.
Try Orchard first and see if they will accept you..... Keep us posted.

                                NOTE:
I too also got a Hooters Card - and my case is still OPEN!!!! Got a Orchard about 5 months ago also..... Excellent credit from years ago sure helped!!

                                FOLKS:

Get those credit reports cleaned up and then apply...... I think you will be okay then.....
