So yes, I enjoy foruming, talking about things with similar interests and goals. Recently I have been looking at personal finance, savings, credit forums. I love this forum, but this section just is not very active.
Probably my main goal right now is savings and not ever having to use credit again for emergencies. I found a personal finance forum that I enjoy but I can only handle reading a little of it. The people there are nice, but soooooo condescending. There is this amazing holier than thou, I save, others are in debt vibe. A recent thread on bankruptcy turned my stomach. What I have gathered from that thread is that all of us BK'ers are horrible with finances, the BK laws are not strict enough, we got off too easy, and we'll eventually fall into the same pattern.
So I move on...
Most of us have My Fico, but has anyone checked out their forums? I enjoy it, they are fun.... but wow. Talk about credit fiends. These people are carrying an average of 9 credit cards, hankering for CLI, and know the ins and outs of the whole Fico system. It is so easy to read them and get caught up in the zeal of credit, credit, and more credit!
This forum is the only one I have found that is a nice middle ground. I think it is because we have been there, done that, and hoping to never do it again. The topics are always of interest, and everyone has great advice. I like that some posters are anti-credit, while others are pro. It is like reading things from many different perspectives, and not a singular view.
