    Secured Credit Cards

I'm thinking of eventually getting a secured card, because that is the only one I for which I would qualify . Which ones are the best? I've heard that Public Savings Bank is good, even though the interest starts the day you make a purchase, but all the secured cards seem to be like that.

I don't want to get a card with anyone I bk'ed. Paranoid, I know. I bk'ed Chase, Orchard, and Cap One.

    Any suggestions?

I am thrilled with Addison Ave, soon to be First Tech. The application was a b itch, but I love my card. No AF, reasonable interest, but since I have had the card I PIF. I would also urge the USAA secured card, but you have to apply for a regular card to get the counter offer. There is a $35 AF and the interest is 9.9%. Whatever credit limit you set it at stays that way. The money goes in a 2 year CD, too, which is better than a savings. I service USAA credit cards, I have taken apps from people with BKs' who have had the secure card counter off.

I don't qualify for USAA because I am not a member of the military, and no one in my family is either.

Addison Avenue is a credit union, right? I looked up their application, but I don't fit in the categories under employment. I'm on disability and don't have a job, which makes it difficult to get a credit card even with good credit, even though I have a (very low) monthly income.

You do not have to be military to qualify for USAA you would just not be Property and Casualty eligible. I also do not fit AA's employment criteria... I forget how I got in with them... I believe I just deposited $5 into a savings account originally. AA would probably be very easy to get because they don't pull credit reports for their secured card.

What about the Wells Fargo secured card? It says you cannot have declared bankruptcy within the past 12 months. Is it a good card? I know Wells Fargo doesn't have a good rep on this forum.
