Will Joint auto loan build credit the same as individual?

Hi I filed and discharged ch 7 before my wife and I got married. Discharge was 12/20/10. I am working on rebuilding my credit. We are looking to purchase a vehicle. My question is if we get the auto load together showing joint account on my credit will that build it the same as if I get it on my own? Thanks...

hi adman and welcome. I was discharged in dec also. My new hubby added me as authorized user on his Chase cc a couple months ago. It is being reported on my credit report as "A" authorized user and in great standing since 1988. So i guess only time will tell.

Pretty funny...when he handed me the card he said "now this is showing alot of faith in you, don't mess it up" It has a 20k limit on it with no balance.

Thanks for the reply oregon, I dont mean a authorized user account I mean if my wife and I buy a car together will I build possitive credit in the same manner as if I purchase it on my own? Does a joint account show less responsibility credit wise or build fewer points on my credit than if it was my own account?

My guess is that it would build the positive reporting for the both of you.
        For a joint acct.
        Notice.. i did say "guess".

Joint vs. single doesn't matter in terms of rebuilding your credit, except that if you go joint her good credit will probably get you a better interest rate.
