    Bankruptcy friendly Credit Unions?

How do you know which credit union is bankruptcy friendly? And then if you find one, is the point to join and then apply for a credit card with them? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I would like to add Partners Federal Credit Union to the list as well. Just approved me for a 5k Visa Platinum.

NOT Patelco. A while back I spoke with one of their loan officers who basically told me that Patelco had tightened their belts on giving credit to BK'ers. Would not budge on my recon. I also spoke with Alliant, and they seem very BK friendly. The loan officer I spoke with said they like to see scores mid 600s and no baddies since post BK. They prefer that you be about 2 years out.

I was able to get a card with Alliant a little over a year out...but she told me I was lucky cause usually they don't do that. They are my lowest limit card right now but I'm hoping to get an increase in a couple months when I hit the 6 month mark.

What is your credit limit with Alliant? I am only wanting one with them so I can get rid of my 300 cl, $75 annual fee subprime card. AF is coming due in Oct, don't want to pay again. Alliant asked me what kind of cl I was looking for, which is $500 (it is the card I use for net purchases).

Hehe its 500 ... my worst card... hell even hooters gave me a bigger limit. But I think its cause they made an exception for me... I am hoping they will throw me some better love in a few months. I know some other people from another forum that got 2k+ limits from Alliant after waiting the usual time post BK before getting the card.

$500 would actually be enough for me, especially since it is a card I only use for net purchases, but I think I will hold off for a while. My plan of action: to keep my cards, try to get my one card unsecured next year and apply for Alliant around the same time. I have 2 cc's and a store card, I think that should be enough to tie me over for now, though I really hate that $75 AF. Ahh well, such is the life of a recent BK'er, I guess. I am a little peeved the credit repair is not happening as swiftly as I would like it to, but I feel like I am losing some focus.

Although I am interested in repairing my credit my primary concern is building my savings, and all this focus on credit cards sometimes makes me take my eye off the prize... which is building my funds. I feel inadequate for not being able to even get an approval for a measly Cap1 card, but why am I complaining? My bills are paid, I have a growing savings and emergency fund, and I am no longer going from paycheck to paycheck. Financially I am actually more secure than I have been in years, and yet the declines still blacken my day.
