I have been looking around for a good online savings account with a decent interest rate for my emergency fund. I finally found one and a few weeks ago opened an account with... drumroll please... American Express. I find this the height of irony considering I've never had an AmEx and probably never will. It made me wonder what other banks will black-list BKers? I'm curious who besides AmEx to steer clear of as time passes. Any ideas?

AMEX was our biggest loser in our bankruptcy, but what I find absolutely stupid and funny is they were in my husbands name and I was an assigned user for two cards, but I opened a new account with them, with a small limit about three years ago for myself and put my daughter on as an authorized user. I pulled her off before filing BK, but this card has still survived, it is like they just can't figure out to close it, except they keep pulling my credit report for it. Maybe that is how they keeps tabs on us, I sure don't get it, and I am not ever using this card again as I don't need it to bite me.
I have read that all the big guys do not like BK people, BOA, Wells Fargo, Chase, Citicard, which is ok, I understand, and now Capital one is my new friend. I don't need a bunch of cards anymore, just enough to rent a car.Hired Attorney 8/28/10 Filed Chapter 7 11/08/10 341 12/14/2010 Report of NO DISTRIBUTION 12/15/2010 Waiting for February 14 2011, date objections due.

Discombob,
I meant Chase & Citi don't play nice before you're late with payment. I wasn't behind on ANYTHING when they raised my interest rates to 29.9 percent when the economy tanked. There was a piece on 60 Minutes, I think, about credit cards raising rates on good customers who were never late, never missed a payment, etc. After a few months of trying to pay off what I could as quickly as possible at those sky high rates, I decided to quit treading water and file BK.

I had forgotten about that trick, and chase pulled it on us also, but only with one card. None of the rest did that, but my friends and family were really dealing with the interest issue and lowered credit limits.Hired Attorney 8/28/10 Filed Chapter 7 11/08/10 341 12/14/2010 Report of NO DISTRIBUTION 12/15/2010 Waiting for February 14 2011, date objections due.

I feel you, CTI/CHase all raised to 29.99 from from 17.99, in less than 6mth, then 29.99 on almost $40,000, 16k & 18k; never understood, worked with them for a year at %0.00 and 200, did not work, then stopped paying, and BAM......a call 7 days a week 20 times a day, I told them they had the wrong number, then after charge off, they sent to a laywer, what a waste, Bankruptcy was filled 2 weeks later.
Chase, charge-off, and a collection, need to clean that account up, they charged me 27.99!!!

Hey, Discombo, I ended up opening an AMEX savings acct as well. After much thought it was just too good to pass up. They're 1.15% yield was too sweet a deal to hold off on. I just finished setting up my external checking and savings, so yay! I BK'ed all the big monsters except for Amex, Discover, BoA... but Citi, Chase, NFCU were all on my hit list. Even though I have been a faithful customer to BoA I am my BK taints me, and I now they won't extend me any credit.Filed No Asset Chp 7 BK: January 2010
Discharged: August 2010
A life lesson well learned.

I guess that's why I added this thread, I want to know who to steer clear of for the next 10 years. Don't want to waste an inquiry down the line when my scores are better and I'm ready to apply for a prime card.
