Hello everyone I need to get new tires for my truck how is Discount Tire card "owned by GE Money Bank"? Also the Goodyear card also owned by GE Money Bank? Right now I have the Hooters card. I closed on CH7 in January 2010.
    Thanks

You may have an easier time getting approved for the CFNA.com companies than GE. Look at the website and you can use the card at any of their affiliate companies. I got the Firestone card right after ch 7 discharge and $1500 limit now.

GE won't give you credit. Don't bother.

US Bank in Phoenix, AZ is not BK friendly. They won't even look at you for a secured card until 12 months past discharge. I have checking & savings accounts with them that I set up several months prior to filing in July 2010 specifically with the secured card in mind. After discharge in Oct 2010, I talked to 2 branch managers and an assistant manager at different locations to check the underwriting guidelines for a secured card. One gave me vague information that was of no help, one never called me back and the third called me about 2 weeks later and basically said I should wait until at least 12 months past discharge, should have no lates after filing, etc. I also enquired about a secured loan (they do it with a loan secured by a CD deposit). One guy said he had only done one of those in the 8 years he worked at the bank and the others seemed reluctant to discuss it. It seemed to me that their secured products are designed more for those with no credit seeking to establish it rather than those of us seeking to rebuild. I've had no experience with Citi or WF. Hope that's helpful.

Addison Ave FCU is great, IMO, secured, so theres no chance of default, great service, automatic approval. I dont plan to even bother with other big name banks.

I applied for Hooters card 3 times last year (BK 7 discharged May 5 2010) and was declined immediately. a day after the anniversary of discharge (May 6, 2011) I applied and received the "In Process..." message. I assumed the worst but I called today May 20 and was approved for $1000 credit line. I don't know if the 1 year post discharge was a coincidence, but thought I would share my experience.

I am with you on the AAFCU, I am thrilled with them! I'll probably remain faithful to them for years to come.
