    Stressed & Confused!

I have finally started to work on fixing my credit report and improve my score. My husband and I were recently discharged and closed for BK. My husband and I listed several credit cards on our BK petition, but my husband called and canceled several of our accounts right before we officially filed. He thought if the temptation isn't there, it wouldn't be a bad idea--that sort of thing. Well, now on the credit reports, some of our credit card balances are not showing as being included in the bankruptcy. Can this be fixed?

I also had some other basic questions. My Equifax score shows 627, but my TransUnion score is much lower--533. Why? On the equifax report, several accounts show as "petition for Ch. 7 bankruptcy, account charged off". On the TransUnion report, several accounts show "unrated or bankruptcy". Should either of these terms alarm us?

    Thanks everyone!

The 3 reports can have different info, therefore the different scores. The accounts should not show a balance, and should only show something to indicate included in bankruptcy/$0 balance owed. If they were not charged off when you filed, they should not report as charged off. That doesn't mean they will report correctly. You can write to the bureaus, and to the creditors directly. Its hard to know if the creditor reported the wrong info, or if the bureau displayed the info incorrectly.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.
