My first credit card offer in the mail

    Hello,

I received a credit card offer in the mail over the weekend from First Premier Bank. Since I'm blocked from promotional mail from the credit bureaus, I don't usually get them. So, my first emotion was excitement

Then I read the fine print. There was a $25 one time fee, $150 annual fee and then a $174 per year worth of monthly service fees. The limit was up to $700. So, I'd be paying half of the limit just to get the card. Although, I do want to rebuild my credit and raise my credit score, I'm not desperate as some credit card companies must think. The offer is in the shredder.

I received this same offer, yesterday and its in the trash. Not paying those fees. Plus 36% interest!!!! They should be ashamed for even sending that to me.

Ashamed, the OP is jumping for joy. Although rate shouldn't matter since anyone on this board should be paying off their CC's every month.

Anyone who files will end up on many mailing lists for the class of people that fall into the bad credit/BK category. All your info is public record and is easily obtained. For many years you will receive BK related junk mail and high interest/fee credit offers. Our Chapter 13 came off our credit reports in April 2009 and we still get BK related junk mail. Mailing lists never go away and it appears neither does one's BK filing.

What's weird is I only ever received a couple pieces of mail from a solicitor due to my BK and that was shortly after I filed. It took about a year before I had any credit card offers in the mail and in the 3 years since my BK I have only received CC offers in the mail from 3 CC companies.
I did obtain credit cards quickly out of BK but not from solicitations.
