    I feel so screwed.

I just typed this whole thing and appears to have vanished, so I apologize if I am double posting. I had the worst atty ever. We hardly communicated and I am left feeling very unorganized and confused. My credit report is not reflective of my BK (ch7). The only thing I am seeing on there is a "dismissed" BK which is from when my fabulous atty forgot to file my papers on time. In addition to not seeing the actual BK (d/c 4/10) the judgment that led me to the BK as well as several other debts still appear active and reporting. Someone on here suggested I ask my atty if he ever filed a motion to vacate the judgement I had. When I inquired all I received was "try this link" and then link to some state forms to fill out. I am guessing they are forms to file this motion, but I have no idea what I am doing or how to fill them out. Didn't I pay him to take care of this stuff? I am hesitant to file legal documents when I don't know what I am doing. Also, I am to attach certified copies of my d/c papers, anyone know where I obtain those?

I just feel like, almost a year post d/c, I should be in a much better place and I am not - in fact, I think its actually worse. In terms of not seeing a BK on my report, do I need to just draft a letter and send a copy of my d/c papers to the reporting agencies?

I appreciate any help I can get since my paid professional doesn't bother. Thanks guys.

Dana, I don't think filing motions to vacate judgments is usually included in the attorney fee for filing bankruptcy.

It is important to vacate the judgments though. Hopefully you can scrape up the money to pay to have an attorney do this for you.

Consider getting a free consultation with an attorney to find out how much it would cost you.

    Good luck!

I have to agree with Keepinitreal... a motion to vacate a judgement is usually above & beyond the BK. Also, some of the things that you mentioned could probably just be dealt with directly with the three reporting agencies. That's normal for a person to have to do after a BK, too. I don't think I've heard of anyone who has had an attorney do this service as part of the BK. You would need to go through your credit reports and dispute things line by line as I understand it. There are tons of threads on how people have done this right here on the forum so just use the search feature to find the tips & tricks. Best of luck.
OK - from now on it's not a "Bankruptcy." It's a "Weight Loss Program." I'm in. Sign me up.

Oh, I knew cleaning up the credit report was something I needed to do. I just didn't know about this vacating the judgment thing. In fact, had it not been for this site - I wouldn't have even know that was something that was necessary. I just feel like I should have been told, or it should have been suggested! Thank you guys for your help. I am going to continue letting my fingers do the walking and see if I can figure this stuff out. Thank you for your help!
