    Opting out of promotional offers

    Hey All:
I'm going to start the process of rebuilding my credit soon and wanted everyone's thoughts on opting out of my information being sold from the credit agencies. Since I will be discharged and looking for credit soon is it better to stay opted in at this time?
    All thoughts are welcome!!!

Honestly, I'm on the fence about it. I was opted out for a very long time and it was nice. I opted back in after my bk to see if I might start getting some good offers eventually but I was annoyed by it because I was getting all these strange post BK "we can fix your credit file" stuff. I even got a phone call from some company that was very rude when I told them I was not interested in their service and to please take me off their list and they were like well the credit bureau sold us your info for like .15 cents. The only thing I'm opted in for right now is that WFNNB will give you preapproval offers on their store websites with just a soft inquery and no hard pull. So, I'm waiting to see if I get anything good from that. My husband, who was not on my BK, was able to get a WFNNB issued visa with a 1,200 limit with just a soft pull. So, I will opt back out again eventually but for now I just want to see if I get anything good. So far, all I got was a preapproval for an Avenue card with a 150 limit... needless to say, I did not jump on that one!
