Credit Report Status Keeps Being Updated

Trying to clean up my credit reports. Ugh. I noticed today on my TU report, several credit card companies and a mortgage that were all IIB have updated status dates which will prolong when they actually fall off my credit report. They should have come off in 2013, but now are showing won't come off till 2016. This doesn't seem fair or right.

My bankruptcy was 5/2009 and these have all been updated this year all of the way up to this month.

    1) Are they allowed legally to do that?
    2) Can I dispute this? (and win).

I'm having the same issue. myfico support told me 3 of my IIB accounts are still giving updates. What the hell are they updating? Just for the sake of doing it to hurt us more? I will be putting another dispute to TU about these creditors doing that.

i hear you!! they are still doing the same with us...but i decided to wait until i pull the next report...to allow them the opportunity to play "catch up". and if not....then i will file a complaint as well as the written challenge on to the reporting agencies.

Of the three credit bureaus two are showing my mortgage as pay as agreed and shows the total of the mortgage due and one has a total of $0. So that is confusing to me.

As with me, they seem to be updating the "update" date or uploading my existing file month after month. I disputed and disputed but it continues. Apparently according to a lawyer I asked, this date has no meaning in credit scoring, it is merely a upload date of your file. On my Identity Gard, it pulls it and see's it as late payment and reports it as such, but not so according to the CB's.

Recently (4 years our of BK) I was approved for a $40k auto loan, and no late payments were seen or reported on my credit report....so this was the sigh of relief I needed to assure myself that the dates that update in my file are irrelevant. No way would I have been approved with any late payment!

In regards to the fall off date of BK'd accounts....7 years from your discharge, roughly, so 2016 is about right. It is against the law to extend or renew these dates on your CR and if they have, you can file suit. Remember, these are not the same dates as the "update" monthly date, they are called something else by each CB and will be clearly shown on your "real" report.

This is an older thread, but I thought I respond just so no one new is confused. BK'd accounts do not fall off 7 years from discharge. It's 7-7 1/2 yrs. from DOFD, date of first delinquency. These dates should not change from before BK filing, even if the creditor files a recent reporting update. It's important to keep a copy of one's credit report pre-BK, just in case there is a change to the DOFD or falloff date, it does happen, but can be fixed.

For example: if the DOFD is Jan. 2009, BK is filed June 2013, the BK'd account should fall off between Jan. and June 2016.

Pj, right you are. i know we just have approx 4-5 hop off because their time was "up" although listed in the bk they fall off on different dates. any or all even in normal situations takes up to 7 years to come off. it's crazy to try and keep up on, but one needs to try and stay on top of it all.
