Can i get a credit card before discharge?

i want to get 3 secured credit cards now, hopefully the smallest amount they will let me get, charge a coke and then pay it off, i have been living a cash life for 3 years now. so please don't think im falling into old habits.. i only want it strictly to start building my credit now so when i buy my first house in 5 years i can have perfect credit

From what I've read on this board thus far, it's best to wait until after your discharge to apply for new credit. Even though this poster received cards a couple days after his discharge, this is a good thread for you to read: http://www.bkforum.com/showthread.ph...fter-Discharge
