Is everything reporting correctly on your reports now? I agree that you should not apply for any more cards until your credit reports are cleaned up a bit. Have you checked your fico recently? As bad as First Premier is, at least they are a positive trade line that will report to all three bureaus which should help improve your score. I think the other option would be a secured card with a small credit limit. HSBC/Orchard offers a secured card.

Exactly why I couldn't bring myself to apply for the card. I just couldn't imagine using it (anywhere in public) and having people think I worked there or something.

You would need to be hired first......

To open the windows and clear the air on this thread let me state that:

            1. I have never applied to work at Hooters so I have no idea if I would be hired or not.

            2. I have never applied for a Hooters card because I would feel silly using it in public. I know that this is childish, but at least I am admitting my weird phobias.

            3. I believe that getting a few trade lines quickly will minimize the damage to fico scores caused by new trade lines and also minimize the time it will take to rebuild. If a person's reports are not at the point where it is possible to get several cards up front, then I think it makes sense to concentrate on cleaning up the reports and showing history with one positive trade line.

            4. If a predatory card like First Premier is all that you can get at first, then I think it is better to go with a secured card and concentrate on cleaning up your credit reports.

            5. I am certain that Hooters will report to all three bureaus each month, which is what the original topic of this thread was about.

You know (I'm a woman btw), I get a lot of compliments on my Hooters card when I use it. I'm not embarassed at all... why would I be? Its just a card with a big Owl on it ... I think its a cool card actually. I have given it to people at restaurants and when the waitor comes back I usually get "that card rocks" or "I love your credit card" ... I have yet to get a look that is like "Umm... why do you have a hooters card?"

I actually love my hooters card... its my best credit card post BK aside from my capital one card. The only downside is what I just said in another post about them not raising my limit... but they do in fact report to the bureaus consistently.

Technically I think the magic credit card number is 3. But for building credit after bankruptcy I'm sure 1 is sufficient at first. I have three and that's where I stopped. I might get rid of my reward zone master card at some point because that one is the worst terms ... its 500 with a 39 dollar annual fee. But I have the hooters at 1,100 and my capital one card at 1,500. Honestly, I like low limits so that I could never be tempted to run the limit up but I also know that low limits are hurting my scores.

My husband and I are hoping to be able to buy a house in 2 years. So, I have some time yet to get things where I want them... course I think I'm doing pretty well when in less than a year I took my score from 598 to 712.

I was also declined by C-1 and Orchard. Oddly enough, C-1 did not reject me for my BK, but because my income was too low (I apparently applied for a higher end card). Credit One finally threw me a bone and is sending me a card with a $300 CL.

You see when God makes you I feel like he really tries hard to either give you good looks or a sense of humor. Rarely do you get both......sometimes you get neither. I at least got one!
