Used the free FICO score thing on here

So I did the free thing and got the 10 day free trial just to see where I stood.....as some of you know I don't care what it is because I am not applying for anything but thought it would be fun.

FICO score: 648 as of October 20, 2010

I guess that is not horrible considering. Also noticed that my mortgage is not being reported anymore, but now I am wondering if it ever was since it's been a long time since I checked my score.

They gave me a negative of no revolving credit.

One good thing I noticed is that I am down to one inquiry, I remember a time when it was like 19 in a two year period......good lord! The one inquiry will actually fall off in a few months, so I will be inquiry free!

    Just an interesting exercise.

I think that your fico sounds about right. You and I were discharged around the same time. The lack of debt and time, plus whatever initial repair you did post discharge healed your score some. There are just so many factors that go into a fico it is difficult to compare your fico to anyone elses. Of course you know that I think that the lack of new positive trade lines is hurting your score. I also know that you don't care about the score so it doesn't matter.

What would be interesting to me just as an exercise , is to find out from a broker if that score, with no positive trade lines, will be good enough to get a refinance on your mortgage. I am hoping it will be.
You can't take a picture of this. It's already gone. ~~Nate, Six Feet Under

The big banner in the top center of the page. I think it changes from time to time but just keep checking it.

Yes, the mortgage issue will be interesting. I will obviously talk to my current mortgage holder though and ask them what is up. Either way, I can prove I have paid my mortgage for the last three years now.

well that gives me hope LSU - I checked ours and it came in at 585, respectively. That sucked seeing that but...oh well. Onward and upwards! I guess they'll start reporting our mortgage once we're done with our 13, given it was outside of our plan (or at least they should). What makes me angry is that our 2nd is showing as "charged off/ bad debt" with a balance owed yet we included them in the BK and are stripping it. Not sure if I should try to fix this NOW or wait until discharge. ??

            Suggestions?

pandora i was wondering how the credit scores did read with a 13...since there is no discharge while paying off your plan. i know your are extremely and almost painfully faithful with your payment plan etc.

personally, we were in shock when about 2 weeks after discharge we were at 690 and 685.....but backtoschool pointed out it may have been based on history and reporting etc....and actually we did NOT follow our atty's advise and i kept paying everyone except our mortgage up until we retained and filed....so actually i didn't give the creditors much time to report negatively on our payments...at least that is the way i interrupted what b2s explained which i believe to be correct. maybe paying as long as we could was not all that dumb as has been suggested...of course i had my guilt reasons for doing it.

i think it would be excellent if you started a thread on this to get a consensus at this point i can only theorize that the actual discharge may have something or somehow effect the scoring.

Yeah tobee..I dont know. I searched the forums earlier this week reading about how the credit report should/would read in a Ch. 13 case - Flamingo's postings helped alot. From what I understand - it wont improve until the discharge however we should NOT have a balance owed, that should be "0". Waiting to hear back from our lawyer on everything to be sure what I've read is correct.

For only having that one neg on our report - it took one hell of hit - given there are over 17 positives on it. I think because its showing "charge off" and a 13 "wage earner plan". Only neg on our reports - yet score dove like 200 points because of it. Not to mention all the "lates" for the 2nd showing up *sighs*. Maybe its too soon given we were just confirmed - I dont know - but it really chaps my backside to see 3 separate negatives for the same stupid thing!

the only consolation i believe is this: there are so many of us out there...the system needs to be changed as far as the scoring.

yesterday i read and posted this new information that to get a mortgage it use to require a fico score of 680, it has since been upped to 720...yet, the reporting agencies have choked us for the smallest of blemishes which should not be reflected in our overall score.

people like you and me, (b2s 2, i think from what i have gotten to know of u both)...really...it's MORE the principal then we want the CREDIT to go out and buy anything. and, really, for someone like you, who has been so good with following everything to the letter of the law, it is difficult, indeed, to not reap but a taste of reward or at the least a reconciliation in one way or another for all of our efforts.

personally...i require kudo's in an indirect non personal way...like via a credit score..LOL!! sound a bid ocd???

although on second thought...a credit score is quite personal.

                      I hear ya - and yeah :P

I wont reestablish my credit as we havent had a credit card in years, but I'd like to hope that once this BK is done that our score will creep up somehow - if only for insurance purposes. We took a hell of a hit on insurance premiums for house/cars. Wish they'd stop doing that, my driving record and home value for insurance has no bearing on my credit report or rating. Just one more way to bilk the people out of their hard earned money - because there is no regulation.

I'm curious to hear what you find out. All of my accounts IIB are showing with a balance and only one says "Debt included in or discharged through Bankruptcy Chapter 13." I'm not too concerned about my credit at this moment, but I am curious if this is all reported correctly and what my score would be if it was. I may just dispute them all and see what comes of it.

I have no intention of ever getting an unsecured credit card or financing a car again... but I am 24 and we would like to buy a home when the BK is over.

Also, just noted that my car which is IIB is showing a KD for the past 24 months. This is on experian.

i was just mentioning that since we moved to florida our auto insurance was based on our credit score. i was so unset...and here they renewed every 6 months ...it was going up and up as we were going down and down.

i HATE .....to give credit where credit is due, however, sometimes dh, did suggest to call AAA, since we were up for renewal, and i thought him nuts...but he was correct...they have nationwide access to insurance companies and some that did not require the fico score. the rep said she would check our score first and if it was too bad, she would locate a company that didn't require the score.

i said i thought it was mandatory...she said NO...here in florida and by the way also nj...it's either or. i don't know where you are located...but i would call them, it didn't hurt and saved us $300 on our one car!!

we also want to buy this house one day. that is the only reason i want to get our scores back on track...we have family members who offered to co-sign...however, we rather not...even our kids have offered...can you imagine...i'm like devastated.. your OWN kids...talk about feeling low.

i did ask since i just had to ....why, if one's credit score is lower are the insurance rates higher? answer was according to this rep...that "the industry has found person's who maintain low credit scores and do not pay their bills have a higher level of fraud"....ok....and what about this economy which has FORCED bk on many and has absolutely nothing to do with not paying their bills because they LOST their jobs...LOST everything...? she responded that she, too, had been effected by this unfair assessment system and someone should try and change it...right.

apparently, THEY can get blood from a stone....or BILK....

LOL!! ur way tooooooo smart for 24....ROFL!!!

and yes, i agree with you, i'm certain one day or someday...you will want a home. although my daughter is renting out her old house...actually renting it with option to buy she got the people to pay the mortgage 6 months in advance and a contract of sale ...they have 18 months to get a mortgage or she take back the house...

in the meantime she moves out of state...and rents and says...(be still my heart)...i think i will NEVER buy again...i'm saying excuse me??? you have two kids under 3...are you nuts...she said nope..i'm not wanting to pay for repairs and problems my entire life....when this lovely house i'm renting starts to fall apart ...i'll just move to another new house...

well...at least the 10's of thousands of dollars we spent on her undergrad and grad school may not have been totally wasted...i'm still not certain yet.

Tobee - I'll have to check with our AAA to see, but I was told that the credit profiling didnt matter - our current policy is out of state with Erie (has been for years now), yet because they have servicers (agents) in-state, the profiling applied. This is according to our Dept. of Insurance (VA).
