    Other People credit

I have been researching different ways to rebuild my credit and I came across something that was quite interesting: that if someone with good credit will add you to there credit cards as an authorized user you are actually borrowing their credit to make your credit rating better. When you get the credit card you cut it up or give it to them and do not use it.

That sounds good but my question is could your bad credit effect their good credit rating considered there is a bk listed? without you ever physically using the credit cards?

    I'm not sure...
But remember, if you get put on someones CC and THEY start to fall apart it will probably hurt your credit rating as well.... works both ways.

If you're added as an authorized user, nothing on your credit matters. (There may be a few creditors who restrict who can be added as an AU, but I haven't heard of any...) It can be helpful, if the account has a low utilization & perfect payment history. THe older the account is, the better.

The scoring systems rate an account the same whether its an AU or if you are the responsible party. Dh's mom added him to one of her cards ($22,400 limit-though her balance is under $300) and his EQ Fico is in the 660's. I think that account was a large factor.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

Yes you can add anyone as an authorized user to your account. Also as an authroized user you can be added to an account at anytime or removed at anytime the card hold is responsible for all debts. Anyways this is how it is at discover card
