    Credit Inquiries

Who would I contact to get excessive credit inquiries removed from my credit reports? The creditors (or collection agency) or can I contact the CRA's directly? I have a few creditors and collection agencies that were doing inquiries on my credit report almost on a daily basis for a whole month! The CRA's don't update daily so what they were looking for on a daily basis is beyond me.

I'm afraid that if I contact the creditors and collection agencies directly they will start doing more inquiries all over again.

My last inquiry was in July of '05
    State: MI
    Filed: 09/09/05
    341 Meeting: 10/19/05 - DONE - My Experience
    Last Day For Objections: 12/19/05
Case Closed: 01/13/06 (Friday The 13th!)

The downside is that if they have 'permissable purpose' such as they had an active collection/account at the time, there is no restriction on how often they can pull.

For some good news-EQ is known for removing them pretty quickly if you call in to dispute. EX & TU, not so. They'll tell you to contact whoever did the pull-and they will not be very willing to remove them most likely.

For more good news, if you pull your own reports daily (such as with True Credit or Privacy Matters) then inquiries are known to get 'bumped' on TU & EQ. The theory is that file space is limited, so when you fill up on soft inquiries from your own pulls, it ultimately 'bumps' out hard inquiries. Takes 2-3 months to see results, but I can say it works. EX, though, seems to have a huge amount of file space allotted and no luck there...

Keep in mind that inquiries show for 2 years, but mainly have impact on score, etc. for 6 months. After 1 year, there is no impact.

      Thanks for the info...

Just curious. Are the creditors allowed to pull your credit report as much as they want after you file BK still? If I don't apply for any credit with them after BK I don't see why though should be able to.

BTW, I used TrueCredit for the past year and never seen my own inquiries on the inquiry list. Is there a special way to do that?

You won't see soft pulls on True Credit, but you will see them if you get a hard copy from Trans Union, etc.

After they are aware of the BK, I think there would be a good arguement that they no longer had permissable purpose.
