Transunion report showing no accounts AT ALL....weird

So, my husband and I decided to have WF come and get the car that was included in our chap 7 last month (owed more than half what it was worth). We ended up buying a new car last month and the dealer submitted an app to WF who instantly denied us (no big surprise).

Anyway, what was surprising was that when I pulled up a Transunion report for each of us (WF said they based their decision on Transunion reports), only *I* had the accounts listed in Bk and so on listed on my credit report. My husband's Transunion report had NOTHING on it (except for the new car loan). Isn't that bizarre? It's like he's *really* starting over. I will run his report again in a few months, but wanted to see if that happened to anyone else?

He could have a split file. Were any inquiries or other older info showing up on the report? Did you dispute past addresses? Is the bk showing up? Having a blank file is usually an indication that there are data errors and mismerged info at the bureau.

Nothing shows up except current address and new car loan. No previous addresses, employers, etc.

That sounds to me like a split file. I would call Transunion (or have him call they probably won't let you call) and see if you can get the new split file merged with the old one. Most creditors will see an adult's file that is completely empty as a red flag anyway, so it won't help him to have the file split. Quite a few creditors will end up getting both halves of the split report when they pull anyway, so its better to have the reports merged.

If you recently disputed any account on your credit reports, that account is temporarily removed until the information is verified with the creditor, and then it is put back on. If multiple accounts were disputed, they will not show on the report but will appear later unless the account cannot be verified with the creditor. That is the secret the credit repair agencies use to "clear" your credit reports...although eventually it all comes back on.

I had the same thing happen to me, but with EQ "No credit file found" it disappeared for three months and now it is back. When I was car shopping and they ran the reports that is what came back for EQ, at least my auto enhanced score with TU was 692... I called EQ and they were of no help... I would contact TU and see what the problem is... like BacktoSchool said, TU could have split the file and the one that comes up is the empty one.

I don't know, Trans Union is weird. We used to own an SUV and that loan NEVER showed up...EVER. It got repossessed in August (we signed a reaffirmation on it) and it's NOWHERE on our credit report. Weird, but a good weird!

Yep, my experian. I was denied due to "No credit history or no credit file"....strange.

Experian is definitely guilty of removing trade lines during a dispute and then putting them back later. They are not known for split files though, so not sure why nothing at all was showing up on your report.
