    Wrong BK Date on Experian?

    So I disputed 2 charge offs on 2 different Chase Accounts. The charge offs were removed, however now the history states that I filed Chapter 7 on September 28, 2009. This date is wrong, I filed on April 21, 2010. Should I dispute that as well? Or should I leave well enough alone as it is an older date?

    Also, on 2 other accounts it states that I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy on May 31, 2010. However, same situation. I filed on 04/21/2010.....I mean, it even states on the public records section the date I filed. How could they get this easy-to-verify date wrong? Do they always verify incorrect information? I'm still learning to rebuild my credit, and this doesn't seem right to me.

    Thanks for any advice.

    The dates on individual trade lines will show the date of first default - which can be alot earlier than the BK filing itself.

      Is the May date your discharge date? For some reason my trade lines for Experian use my discharge date while the other two CRAs use my filing date. This is significant for me on my Experian report since the creditors kept the late payment clock running post filing until discharge. On many accounts I wasn't late until I filed, then I stopped paying (no duh), so now I'm get dinged on Experian for not making payments post filing. I protested this, but they say the discharge date is the important date. Yes the discharge date is important, but you are not discharged of you liabilities as of the discharged date, you are discharged of your debts as of your filing date. I'm tempted to take the next step against the individual creditors, but I'm afraid it would be a pointless exercise.
      Chapter 7 asset case
      Filed 1/8/10; 341 2/8/10 (10 minutes);
      Discharged 4/12/10; Closed 11/4/10

        No, May is not my discharge date....August 11, 2010 is. I was told the same thing by my lawyer, it's not the discharge date that stops collection activity, but the filing date. I'm going to take the next step, if you do, please post what happens.
