How is current debt that is included in BK is reported?

I have a medical bill and an electric bill (from our house in another state). The medical bill isn't on our credit reports at all and the electric is reported as current.
We filed 9/10/10 for Chapter 7,both of these bills are included, will they just show up as included in our BK on our credit report only as they can't report anything after filing as far as being late etc. Or could they not be reported at all?

I also was wondering about the effects of medical bills being included in BK- does that effect future medical care as far as billing for procedures etc, like will we come up as people who didn't pay in the past?

Electric bills- this one is in another state, we are current with the electric company we are using now but if we move and get service at another home will they pull our history and require a deposit because of this other electric bill being BK'd? I've heard electric companies can charge a deposit but I didn't know if it was due to credit score or that you didn't pay an electric company before.

jaca...we had over 200k worth of medical bills when we filed...while most were on our cc's because we ran out of our insurance cap for that year....some where not.

it did not effect our standing at all with the doctors except 2...and we just changed doctors.

ok...the electric bill thing is interesting and let me tell you our experience on this one.

we rented and set up our "back" up home prior to filing and while our credit scores where still like 820.....we STILL had to come up with a $780 deposit on with the new electric company!!! even tho our credit was still excellent at the time.

we had been "planning" our bk, but still paying everyone and their mothers at the time during the "planning" stages. just setting everything up and keeping payment since we knew about when our lay off was coming etc we were able to determine our future with a little bit more to work with.

i was SHOCKeD and the deposit...we never ever had to do that before...ever...the word i got was that so many people are sticking the companies today that they are now requesting deposits. they said ours was NOT based on our credit score, but on the previous owners usage!! WHAT??? we found out previously there were 6 people here...we are ONLY 2....but it was handing over the bucks or no electric!

    don't know if that helps...

780$ That is crazy! Why so much??!! We moved last fall before all of the BK issues and didn't have to put a deposit for our new electric but then nothing was late at the time. I guess I will have to find out down the line on that one.

well it was progress energy (that was NOT our old company) and they said it was based on the past occupants of this place. we were in shock....now they tell me after two years we get it back...mind you this is after 35 ....NO 40 years of NEVER ever having a problem or having to put a deposit on any utility!!

on the other hand my daughter JUST move to NC and didnt' have to pay a dime....she has a different company altogether...some type of co-op.

Seems they don't care about the good credit only the bad. I was looking through our credit report that the lawyer gave us, pages of perfect credit and the page of lates Maybe the negatives are too recent- you recently filed right?

we filed in april of 2010.....but got this place way way before....just to be safe..we were scared, i must admit.

that's why we took months which turned out to be years in planning our bk...so we had a "safe" haven and not wanting to end up in the streets. really, that's how worried i was...so i had to be proactive and just did it. that is, everything i could before filing and being late with our bills.

So with all the planning what has worked to your benefit and what hasn't mattered?
I tried to plan the best we could but still am worried, stressed, sickened about the unknowns. We won't be discharged until 12/28/2010, but am trying to start rebuilding as fast as we can.

oh, indeed, no amount of planning either working for or against the issue much helped with the level of stress, guilt and shame that were all associated with having to file for bk....

then coming to sites like this helps people understand that this situation is beyond simply poor money management....it is truly an economical crisis coming to it's peak...(or at least i, for one am hoping it will get better).

jaca....i'm certain you will be just fine...i'm just still not use to looking over my shoulder. i know it will pass and i will begin to feel better about things...i'm waiting. so, now with our first few dollars put aside.. we are now even discussing getting away for a few days to relax???? i'm not certain what that exactly means anymore!
