Hi Everyone,
I understand that a debt will appear on my credit report for 7yrs and that the actual bk listing for 10yrs. I have some debts that are due to come off next year and 2012. What is the likelihood that if I wrote them a letter they would remove their debt sooner?

The likelihood is slim to none. Each creditor that you BK'd should fall off after the seven years is up. The "public record" of BK will last for ten.

Each derogatory account has to be removed 7 1/2 years after the Date Of First Delinquency (DOFD). If you were already late for quite some time before filing, the accounts are going to be removed sooner than 7 years after filing.

I'd say you search for accounts that were IIB and show errors - no matter if they were pre- or post-filing. Dispute them with the credit-bureaus. Some accounts will be removed right away because creditors often don't bother responding to BK-accounts because they have no interest any more. If they verify the error, send the creditor a certified Mail with Return Receipt (CMRRR), threatening them to sue if they don't REMOVE the entire account from the report. That'll help as well.
